Have you ever heard the simile that people are like fingerprints? It's true....none of us are the same. (Y'all are probably like..."Duh Michelle! This isn't SCIENCE!)
Therefore, our blogs are not the same.
One person may write about family, while another writes about business.
Someone else writes about love and someone different writes about heartbreak.
Someone may have a blog full of bright colors while someone else has a blog as white as a canvas.
My point is...we are all different. We write different. We talk different.
We are different.
The most important thing...let your blog be a reflection of YOU.
There are NO rules.
You want to have sponsors? Great! Have them!
You want to have a giveaway for a pack of gum every single day? Do it!
You want to write about how much you hate Stacy Keibler and George Clooney together? GO FOR IT!
You want to write about how much you hate Stacy Keibler and George Clooney together? GO FOR IT!
The point, friends, is that Your blog is YOURS. You do what you want. At the end of the day, you are what is important.
You can change the rules as you go along. It is your life. Your rules. Right?
I teach my school kids every day to BE TRUE TO THEMSELVES.
I try to live by this same advice every day.
Blog because you love to.
Blog because you have things you want to say.
Blog because you don't have things to say.
BLOG ABOUT WHATEVER YOU WANT.
People will read what you have to say or they won't.
The important thing is...you are being true to yourself...and that is what is most important.
At least, in my opinion, that is what is important!
Here is one of my favorite quotes that I have come across from blogging, and I think it rings SO TRUE.
"Be your own person. Don't follow everyone else's rules. What works for someone else won't always work for you. Be unique."
I did a wedding post today, too.
From the Heart

I am in love with this post. For real. Everything you said is perfect. :)
Very inspiring post! Good to remember when I'm going through my blog "Funks"

This is so true! Thanks for the reminder!!
I like that last quote by Oscar Wilde. Nicely said :)
xo,
Jessica
Oh, I love this!! Thank you!
Thank you for posting this! I think it's ridiculous how people have these "rules" they have to follow while blogging. I have always stayed true to myself on my blog because that is the most important thing to me. I use it as a catalog for things that I love, not what's the "cool" or "right" thing to do. I want to be able to look back on my blog and pull something up and smile. I honestly think you've always been so true to yourself on your blog, because you are just as awesome in person (if not even more). Keep doing your thing, girl. ILY!
I think this is so true. It is so easy to forget though, because it is so easy to develop blog envy and compare one's blog to another. I agree, if a person is true to themselves... someone will want to read it!
I love this so much!
LOVE IT! So very very true!

THANK YOU!
this is wonderful michelle, and i agree with you 100%. what's the point of blogging if you aren't being true to yourself?
if i don't feel like blogging, or have nothing i want to share...i don't blog. i don't want to fluff up my blog with things that AREN'T ME. i started my blog for myself, and will continue to use it as a journal to document my NOT SO PERFECT life :)
thanks for posting this! you're awesome.
My thoughts EXACTLY!!!
Well said Michelle!
Amen!!! Thank you for this :)
YES a thousand times!! :)
Well said my dear.
very well said! love this
Thank you! I had my heart broke last week and was unsure if I could continue. Your post came at a great time. I love blogging. Thank you!
Love this post Mchelle! So glad you shared it! Posts from the heart are the best kind! Happy Tuesday! Xoxo
"Be your own person. Don't follow everyone else's rules. What works for someone else won't always work for you. Be unique." <- thats an awesome quote. Who said that? :)
Couldn't have said it better myself :)
Brilliant blog post, thank you! At times, i wonder whether the jibber gabber i write on my blog is ever worth the read... but this has just reminded me that it IS worth the read, and i loved writing it :) Thank you!
This is a great post! And a great reminder! I think often times we get caught up in comparing ourselves (and our blogs) to others...and the quotes you posted are a great inspiration to remember to be ourselves! Thank you!
Great post! I think sometimes we get caught up in trying to fit the mold and make it work for everyone and we lose ourselves.
I agree with you 100% girl!! When I first started blogging I would think "Okay I need to do exactly what my favorite bloggers are doing" and now, I am finding my voice! I definitely still look to others for inspiration but I love that my blog is my own little space
What a great reminder! Thanks for sharing :)
I love this post! We all need reminders sometimes!
I love this! So true!
You are so on the money!
You are so on the money!
Such a wonderful post and completely true! Thanks for sharing this!
You couldn't have said it better :) Thanks for the reminder- we all need to keep this in mind! Have a wonderful afternoon! xo
Someone must have struck a cord with you... but this is so true.
That's one thing I've learned while blogging this past year. I'm not like everyone else. Nor do I want to be. I like having my own blogging style and am happy with it even if others aren't.
Preach it sistah! ;)
Emily at Amazing Grapes
Totally agreed :)
And very well said...
I'm happy doing my own thing & living my own life- took me a while to get there though!
A to the MEN!!!
I am only human and can admit that I get a wee bit jealous when I see blog cliques, people with high numbers, pretty hair, gorgeous houses, etc. but they are who they are and I am who I am.
I will never be a food blogger or fitness blogger or craft blogger but I can assure you I will be a BLOGGER and that's what matters. My blog might not be everyones cup of tea but it's me and who can either take it or leave.
Long comment, but you hit the nail on the head with this one, that's for bringing this to light more.
I wrote something about blog drama and blogging about whatever you want on my post today, but this is just SOOO true!! Thanks for posting it!! :)
So true :) Love this post! Thanks for sharing!
Amen! Well said!
Thanks for the reminder! Sometimes I forget all these things!
Amazing post! Perfectly written!
LOVE THIS!!!
My thoughts exactly
If there were a "like" button on blogger, I would click it for this blog post. So true!
This is great advice- especially for someone like me who is new to the blogging world and unsure about who would want to follow me! Thanks for the inspiration!
Give a pack of gum a way every day... Haa!! The reason I read blogs is because everyone is different...if we all blogged about the same stuff it would be super boring.
THIS. omg, I hate it when bloggers just try so hard to be someone they're not - and it shows!
wow michelle -- thanks for this tidbit. kinda puts life into perspective. & not just with blogging! everyday i sometimes i have to remind myself to blog about what i love & not what i think people will love. & guess what -- my blog has grown tremendously in the last couple weeks.
again thank you for shedding the light for people that need to know that we are allll different!
xoxo

Love this! I absolutely love to read blogs where I know the person is completely being themselves. There's nothing more beautiful than self-confidence. Thanks for sharing :)
Great post and beautifully written! It's so true and all bloggers should keep it in mind. :)
What an inspiring post doll! Everything was perfectly said. It's fun being unique and being you when blogging!
Ahh I love the Allie and Noah ecard! I feel like that quite often with a variety of people ;) Happy Wednesday!
PREACH IT GIRLFRIEND!!! I think too many people get caught up on followers and sponsors and all that jazz. Thank you for this reminder to us all :)
true story! thanks for this posting... especially as a newborn blogger. Great read!
Thank you. Amen. & I love you. Yup, I think that covers it. Let's meet already girl! Whaat whaaat!
Really well said! Amazing post! I couldn't agree with you more! XOXOXO
ahmen sister.... love the quote!

I LOVE this! I always have to remind myself not to play "keeping up with the bloggers" - that my utlimate goal was to have this blog as an outlet for myself, and to be true to myself. Not to collect followers, not to make someone else happy. The fact that ANYONE out there finds what I have to say interesting is icing on the cake, but it can't be my goal. I always try to remember this when reading other people's blogs too - never judge/criticize. If I don't like what they have to say, it's my choice to read or not, just as it's their choice what to write.
Oh - and PS, I had the weirdest dream the other day. I dreamed you made an announcement that you were pregnant, and did a poll to see how many other people found out that they were pregnant this weekend, and 35 people wrote back that they had. Weird, and random I know, but I had to share! LOL
I can't thank you enough for this post Michelle! I'm constantly seeing all these "blogging rules" and I don't think there should be any of these stupid rules! Like you said, it's YOUR blog, you can do and write whatever you want!
Love this post!
Love your quotes for this topic, just wanted to throw in one because I'm wearing a shirt that says it, but it seems to fit perfectly with this!... "Today you are You, that is truer than true, There is no one alive who is youer than you" -Dr. Seuss
perfectly said!
Ditto!
Love. Bliss. Life.
I really like this post...and now I totally want to do a giveaway for gum...just cos I can! :P

wow - this post really spoke to me. I feel like sometimes I sit down and think "what do my readers want to see" rather than "what do i want to write about." Thank you for reminding me of the reason why I started a blog!
PS - I am a new follower! :)
Hells yeahs! This should be a post that every blogger, new or old to this world, needs to read. It could almost become a mantra of sorts. Thanks for posting this great reminder :)
Amen!
