When hubs proposed to me at Christmas 2009, I made a promise to myself to grow my hair out so it would be long for the wedding.
If my hair were not long, I couldn't of pulled of the look that I wanted. Yeah, yeah, I know there are extensions out there, but I just wanted my own hair.
Now that the wedding is almost five months behind me...my hair is still long and I am considering cutting it again.
My husband loves me any way, he says, but I know he is fond of my long hair.
Here are some reasons why I want to cut it....I'm shedding like a MO FO y'all.
There is freakin hair all over the place.
It's clogging up the shower drain. (By the way, we should own stock in Draino if they had it...we use it probably on a 2 week basis)
It's all over the counter.
All over the bathroom floor.
It's all over the guest bedroom where I get ready for work each morning.
Not only that...I just keep pulling it up into a ponytail or sock bun. It's becoming monotonous.
I finally started curling it...but my hair is SO THICK it takes forevs to curl!

| Blurry pic. Sorry! |
I'm just tired of it.
I know if I cut it, I'll regret it.
It's a vicious cycle, I'm telling ya.
Girls with long hair want it short...girls with short hair want it long.
I keep scouring Pinterest for hair ideas...but I keep being drawn to the pins of the girls with the short/medium length hair!!!!
I mean, how freakin adorbs is Sandy's hair above??? ADORBS.
Currently, I'm using It's a 10 leave in hair conditioner which I LOVE and I'm also using Organix Moroccan Argan Oil, which I also LOVE.
What hair products are y'all girls with long and short hair using???
And the big question...cut it? Or deal with it?

The Great Hair Debate

I wouldn't cut it! Have you tried a keratin treatment?! They're amazing! They can be pricey but in the long run it takes all the "routine" out of your hair! The treatments make my hair less of a hassle! 15 min to blow dry, 15 minutes to flat iron {if that} Check into it!
Ah, I am trying to get up the nerve to cut my hair, too! I LOVE that cut on Sandra Bullock... you could totally rock that! I say go for it!
Mine's at an awkward middle length. I want it long so badly! It's a vicious cycle for me, it grows slower than molasses and I always regret it when I chop it off. Your hair is so beautiful and thick!
I have long hair and definitely DO NOT want my hair short. I know I don't like it much when my hair is above my shoulders so it's always a no-no to me. Men tend to love long hair though because it's more feminine. My husband gets annoyed when his mom cuts it above her shoulders.
i want to cut my hair so bad because its SUPER long too ha but obviously i want it somewhat long before the wedding- i say cut it girl :) its hair and it grows back! change is good and you'll love it short for the summer!
I love my hair long because I think it thins out my face!
Hair products I love are the Aveda Smooth Infusion Shampoo & Conditioner...expensive but sooo worth it!
I feel your pain! I'm in the process of growing my hair out again and it's driving me nuts!! I cut it a little less than a year ago and loved it, for a few week. It used to be crazy long (like, more than halfway down my back) but it was all one length so it was terrible. I'm thinking of making an appointment to get a trim and tell her how I want it. I want it to get super long but have some layers (like long bang around my face and then getting really long in the back...that's my favorite look right now). Plus, I know with summer right around the corner, I'll HATE shorter hair, because I can't just throw it up when it's hot. I have super thick hair as well...I vacuum my bathroom floor about every other day...it's bad!
Your hair is beautiful! Wear it long while you are young enough to get away with it... when you get old, it starts to look like a desperate attempt to look like a 20 something again. ;)
I love Sandra's cut as well as your hair! What if you get a good healthy trim and go from there? Little baby steps until you decide what you really want! :)
I have the same problem! Mine is so long, and it's everywhere. I shed so much, I swear I could make a wig for someone. I love your hair, I think it looks pretty long, but I also think it would be SUPER cute in that cut that Sandra has going on. I say cut it.. it'll be MUCH less hassle!
Im growing mine out!! (:
I always regret it when I cut mine, but Sandra's cut is so cute!!
Ooo, don't ask me! I'm a goofball when it comes to cutting my hair!! I LOVE to get new styles and cut, cut, cut!! I usually have the kinda of medium hair length, mostly because it's more fun that way for me. I hate that my hair gets stringy when it's long. Your hair looks gorgeous long of course, but only you know how it is to take care of!! And yeah, guys always love long hair, but they aren't the ones that have to take care of it!! ha!
I love organix products too!
I chopped all my hair off after the wedding and have kept it shoulder length or higher for the last 4 years.
That being said, I would say go shorter in stages. I miss my long hair so much now that now it is so painful to grow out. I am at that "awkward" stage right now where it is growing out but doesn't look like it. So frustrating.
If you get it cut now, then you have some time for it to grow so that you can pull it back this summer. Now would be a good time for a cut, but I will say that your hair really is pretty long. I can see the great debate for ya
Take it from me...DON'T CUT IT! I had long, amazing hair and just decided one day to cut 10 inches off for "something new" and it was the worst decision ever. Now, after 3 months later, it is as long as Sandy's in the picture above. Just get it trimmed and thinned! I love any products by Treseme especially their heat care line! :)

I've been using It's a 10 for YEARS...seriously, like before you could buy it in stores. We use to order it from this tiny salon in a small town in TX and ship it to FL! I just started using that Organix Moroccan oil and I LOVE it!
I grew my hair out for our wedding. I loved having it all but I have always wanted to donate my hair at least ONCE in my life. I hated having it short but loved the cause. so I chopped it all off back in May and am happy to report it is fairly long now =) just past my shoulders. If you are going for a chop, I always encourage others to look into Pantene Beautiful Lengths so that all that hair doesn't go to waste - especially your beautiful thick hair =)
I was wanting to cut my hair, but I always regret it. So now I'm growing until I can cut at least 10 inches off so I can donate it to Locks of Love.
NOOOOOO! DON'T DO IT!!! Your hair is so gorgeous! I'd KILL for that hair! You'll make it through the rough period and start to love it again. From experience, the minute you cut it short you'll regret it, and have to live with it for however long it takes to grow it back out (for me - eternity - aka 28 years and counting). Maybe just get a trim - it can make a huge difference in how you feel about your hair. Just don't do anything drastic!
I've had super short hair for close to 5 years now - like buzzed in the back short - and I'm trying to grow it out right now! It's still pretty short, and I still shed like crazy so don't cut it just because of that! lol. I'm also so jealous of all of the people who can wear all of these cute braid/bun styles! ah!
Happy Monday!
xo
I love your long hair!!! And we totally use Drano at that rate too. It's ridiculous.
Honestly, I chopped my hair off twelve inches after my wedding, and I regret it. It's only not just starting to get long again, and I swear that I won't be cutting it anytime soon {or, ever...}. But if you're used to short{er} hair, then I say go for it! Long hair isn't for everyone, though I do think you look beautiful with it long :)
xoxo,
Joelle
I feel your pain!! I have the longest, thickest hair ever and I'm growing it out right now for our wedding. It takes me an extra 40 minutes in the morning to blow dry/style it and it sheds EVERYWHERE! I usually like to trim it up in the spring - makes it easier to manage so I say go for it!:)
How long have you been using the Moroccan Argan Oil? I've used another one of their products but, the conditioner just wasn't heavy enough for my thick hair! I say keep it long for a little longer! Don't make any rash decisions though!
I am having the same problem right now! My hair is so thick, it makes 40 minutes to curl my entire head. I'm in the ponytail rut right now and it's killing me!
Be prepared to have people ask if you're pregnant :). That's what they did to me! I chopped mine 3 months after I got married. I donated it to Locks of Love. Now I'm growing it back out... but I was kind of sick of all the hair... lol. So I'm just sayin, be prepared :)
Mine is long & has been living in a ponytail lately too. I've been thinking about doing side swept bangs with a medium shoulder length cut... The best of both worlds.
Oh my gosh, I clog up the drain with my hair too! Thank God it's not just me dealing with this! Love Sandra's cut but go with whatever you really want! I think you could rock anything! :)
Your hair is beautiful. I vote not to cut it. I wish I could get mine to curl like yours.
just got my hair cut and i have to say - its amazingggg
I love your hair curled! I so wish mine was thicker! I vowed to never cut mine short again. But, it is just hair; it will always grow back!
Cut it! It will grow again. It is always nice to have a fresh shorter hair style especially w/ the warm weather coming. You could donate it too!
i've gotta say, keep it long. any time i've cut my hair i ALWAYS end up regretting it and being annoyed by it until it grows out again...but i agree, sandra's hair looks AMAZING. mine however, does NOT look like that when short...
I chopped my hair off (to my chin) five years ago, and I'm never doing it again. Women loved it, men didn't care for it, and I had to style my hair EVERY... SINGLE... DAY. My hair is naturally wavy, thick and coarse, so short hair just isn't an option for me!
I use Tresemme and Aussie shampoo/conditioner and John Freida styling products.
Girl, I feel ya!! Except my hair is below my boobs...way too effing long, but i love it so much!! Something that helps a lot is combing your hair in the shower while the conditioner is still on. You will be scared though because GLOBS of hair will come out, but it will lessen the shedding during the day. And DEFINITELY use a heat protectant before putting any kind of heat in your hair!
I always know its time to cut mine when it always goes into a ponytail. I think the longer/shoulder length bob cut would be cute on you!
If you cut it, make sure you donate it to Lock for Love or Pantene's Beautiful Lengths! (Unless you've bleached or used permanent dyes.)
I grow my hair out every 2 years then cut it short to donate it.
I chopped all mine off 2 months after our wedding.
Love Argan Oil, too. I use Moroccan Oil brand and I've used Organix shampoo & conditioner.
I've used the "it's a ten" product before. I loved it too! :)
That must be a bride thing -- as soon as I got married I chopped mine off too! I think you will look awesome either way. I don't like to use tons of hair product as my hair is fine so I'm mainly doing a heat protectant (organix) and I like it's a 10 too.
i love love the moroccan argan oil too, that stuff has saved my dried out ends, it is just amazing
I am YOU. I ALWAYS debate about my hair. (obviously) I have wanted to grow it long for SOOOOO long and now that Im getting there, I am having doubts. Number one, my hair is so thick that I honestly think it makes my scalp sore from pulling on it, no joke! And Its a PAIN to style and I am going blonde again so after all the abuse I have put my hair thru, Im thinking a little shorter might be better. AHHHH I don't know. girls and their hair. We can never make up our minds!
I use that moraccan stuff too and LOVE it.
I love your hair all curly like. Mine is crazy thick to, they should be able to thin it out for you. Maybe just get the ends trimmed and then thinned and see how you feel?
I also love that top you are wearing in the long hair picture. Michael Korrs?
I pinned that haircut too. I'm in the same dilemma...plus I want to go back to blonde. It may be my spring break challenge!
I say go for the change!! It will always grow back!! I love the cut of Sandra Bullock!
The women who keep their hair long turn the most heads, and it will always be so. If you are looking for practical, go short. But don't expect many dudes to like it.
